Mikano International Limited has reinforced its standing as a committed corporate partner in Lagos State’s security drive, donating 10 units of the Maxus T60 pick-up truck to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund in a gesture that underscores the growing momentum of private sector participation in public safety initiatives across the state.
The vehicles were presented through Mikano’s auto division, Mikano Motors, at a handover ceremony held at the company’s showroom on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Mikano Motors’ National Operations Manager, Mr. Syam Abdulkadir, formally presented the keys to the Executive Secretary and CEO of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, who was accompanied by the Fund’s Administrative Director, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, and Executive Assistant, Mrs. Adaobi Nwankwo. Mikano Motors Showroom Manager, Grace Chinyere Anasiudu, was also present at the handover.

Speaking at the event, representatives of both organisations highlighted the significance of public-private collaboration in strengthening Lagos’ security infrastructure and expanding the operational reach of security agencies across the state.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mikano International, Mr. Mofid Karameh, said the donation reflected the company’s resolve to support security institutions and contribute to safer communities. Karameh, who attended an LSSTF-organised private sector breakfast meeting with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praised the governor’s sustained investment in safety and security, describing it as critical to Lagos’ continued prosperity. He also commended the state government’s proactive engagement with business leaders, noting that effective security is not only a civic responsibility but an essential pillar of business growth and investor confidence.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the state, Ogunsan expressed deep appreciation for Mikano’s response to the call for increased private sector involvement in the LSSTF’s mission. “This is a proud moment for Lagos. This is a proud moment for Mikano and for our organisation, LSSTF,” he said. He recalled that the governor’s recent engagement with chief executives at the LSSTF Breakfast Meeting had directly laid the groundwork for the donation. “This entire process started with the Chief Fundraiser, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who mobilised everyone at the breakfast meeting to make donations to the LSSTF,” Ogunsan said.

The Maxus T60 is a tough, mid-size pick-up assembled in Nigeria by Mikano Motors at its Karameh City plant in Ogun State, powered by a Mitsubishi engine noted for its fuel efficiency. The vehicles are expected to enhance mobility and rapid response capacity for security operatives across the state.
The donation is the latest in a series of corporate contributions facilitated under Ogunsan’s leadership since he assumed office in October 2025. His tenure has been marked by a deliberate effort to deepen the LSSTF’s public-private partnership model, drawing corporations, development partners, and individual donors into active collaboration with the state’s security framework. Since assuming the role, he has convened high-level stakeholder meetings, launched a retail donation campaign to democratise security funding, and secured additional donor support for the construction of new police stations across Lagos.

Over the years, Mikano International and Mikano Motors have built a reputation for integrating social, environmental, and ethical concerns into their business operations. In road safety circles, the company is widely recognised for its support of the Federal Road Safety Corps and its broader advocacy for safe motoring in Nigeria.
The LSSTF, established in 2007 as Nigeria’s first public-private security funding framework, has since provided critical operational support to law enforcement agencies in Lagos — including patrol vehicles, communication equipment, body armour, marine assets, and specialised training — all funded through a combination of government allocations and private donations.
